I graduated 2012 from whs and went out of the country for a while. Now Im trying to enroll into a collage but THERES A PROBLEM! Westbury's staff have taken longer than a month just for a transcript! Which they can just pull my name up and print the paper so I could see if I need a placement test at the collage Im trying to enroll in. I find this very unprofessional that they DONT want to help a old student better his life. If you want a school where they care about your kid's/your future DONT go to WESTBURY, all they care about is getting their pay checks and leaving! I've left like 6 messages with my name and number and I still havent heard back from the school or the registration office.

Westbury High has a new principal who started in August 2010. School is near Willow Waterhole Nature Area and has started two Environmental Science courses for 2010-11 with intent to use proximity to Willow Waterhole as a unique asset for WHS.

this is a great school, people are too stuck on the bad press, that a few bad students gave us, and tend to assume its a bad school all in all, it has a great medical, media, and fine arts programs, and lots of great AP courses. great school

I am currently a graduating senior at this school and i believe that these accusations only apply for the majority and greatly overshadows the minority. What these critics are forgetting is that there is a great Advanced Placement program with teachers that take the time to actually teach the students. It is up to the students to decide whether or not that they would want the education provided for them. I am getting so sick and tired of westbury being associated as 'ghetto,' because people only judge this school through first impressions. So for the future, actually take the time to go inside the school, look at all the classes, then make your judgement.

I attended Westbury and am a fairly recent graduate. The education there is sub-par at best. The staff does a poor job showing that they 'care.' Some teachers are bright spots, but most of the staff is barely adequate, and the administration is horrific. I've never witnessed a school in such constant disarray. I was less prepared for college than any of my friends that attended other schools. The education there is a joke, literally. I had a lower GPA than most of my friends from other schools, but had a higher class rank. In short, Westbury is terrible.

Westbury High School's entire campus is divided into small learning commuities. The school has good leadership. The Auto Tech and Fine Arts Departments are clearly outstanding.

Parental involment is lacking greatly, a great deal of voilence, administracion simply does not care they do not enforce rules provided by the state, students can get away with anything teachers are not regared when it comes to teaching meathods they are force to fallow TAKS obgectives by the word wich simply do not work.

The academic standards are the same as most of the public schools in houston except for non-parental participation and that is due mainly to lack of communication from the school. The only time we hear from them is when they want money. We are expected to just send money anytime they ask for it and not give any feedback at all. There are a handfull of people that are a part of the old status quo and they like keeping things just the way they have always been. If you don't have money then your child is left out.

This school is not a very good one, in that the teachers are not providing a solid education to the students. The dress code is absolutely terrible, and it seems the students there overpower the teachers. My stepson attended there and we had him removed, because he was not learning anything to help him in the future.

I have 1 child attending Westbury H.S. She transfered from Westside and she loves Westbury. This school has made a 180 degree turn around in the past year. The new principal and the new facility has really improved morale and given the students a sense of pride. The lack of parental involvement is a major issue.

I think that Westbury has come along way from a few years ago. The new principal has really improved westbury since he got there. I have one child who is in the 10th grade she has really been improving in her school work. Alot of the violence that was in the school has faded away. In a year or two Westbury will be turned a whole difffernt direction and back on a right track!

I just graduated from Westbury and I believe that the school has changed from the previous principal's rules. It has changed for the better although there are some improvements that Westbury has to undergo before becoming a top school. I believe that the limited amount of good teachers is a problem to the learning capablity that there is available. I also believe that the student body has to do something to change the rep that Westbury still carries but overall the amoptosphere is fun and welcoming.
